Go back in time...
Already in prehistoric times, humans must have liked it in Bize, with its natural resources (water, the river Cesse and dozens of resurgences) and protection (caves)... In fact, they never left!
The Romans and then the Visigoths established themselves here, as demonstrated by the small fortified "Boussecos" tower just outside the village.
A medieval village
With its narrow streets, circular layout and the remains of gates and ramparts, the village as it stands today was clearly built in the Middle Ages.
The large building by the river's edge is a former royal cloth factory from the time of Louis XIV.
