Ville de Narbonnne
A stroll through Narbonne

Shopping streets in the city centre

While you are here, spend some time shopping in the city centre. You’ll find a host of opportunities in our pedestrianised streets packed with exciting wine shops, artisans, creators, tea rooms and more.
Over 350 local shopkeepers are ready to greet you with a smile in our town centre! Our best two neighbourhoods for shopaholics: the Cité district, full of interesting buys, and the Bourg district, buzzing with activity!
Paradise for fashionistas and bargain hunters!

The Bourg district

This was a major trading post in Narbonne in the Middle Ages thanks to its garment industry, but it is now the epicentre of an exciting renovation and business rehabilitation project. Set on the right bank of the Canal de la Robine (formerly the River Aude), once occupied by both the middle-class and workers, it is now home to numerous artisans who find these buildings an ideal showcase for their creations...
Head to the Four Fountains district and enjoy a warm welcome at their workshops: leatherworkers, ceramists, jewellers, upholsterers... Not to mention all the restaurant owners, coffee roasters and clothing designers who keep the district lively!

The Cité district

The seat of the city in Roman times and a stronghold of the nobility and high clergy in the Middle Ages, the pedestrian streets in the heart of the old quarter are now "the" shopping district!
Via Domitia, on the Place de l'Hôtel de Ville, is your starting point for shopping in Narbonne! Indeed, Droite, de l'Ancien courrier, Jean Jaurès and the Cours de la république streets are full of all kinds of fascinating shops: concept stores, major brands, bookshops, local products...! A magnet for fashion addicts and lovers of quality products!
Groups of young people, restaurants occupied by groups of friends, happy reunions; there's a fun atmosphere in the bars and restaurants where you can get some refreshment and grab a bite while you show off your latest buys to your friends.

Please note!

Pont des Marchands street (The Merchants' Bridge) is reopened to the public!

Pont des marchands street, one of two inhabited bridges in France, spans the Canal de la Robine and is a historical link between the left and right banks! And as its name suggests, the street is also a shopper’s paradise!
But that's not all! Some stores also offer breathtaking views of the Canal. After all, it’s a UNESCO World Heritage Site!

"The epicentre of Narbonne’s shopping experience is around the Place de l'Hôtel de Ville, and in Rue de l'Ancien Courrier, Pont des Marchands and Rue Droite…
Come along and meet the creators and craftsmen!
And of course, you must come to Les Halles!"
